27th Jan 2023

FA National Futsal Series 2022/23 Preview

London, 27 January 2023: Both Bloomsbury Futsal Mens 1st Team and Womens 1st Team are geared up for their home games, scheduled to take place at Aldenham School on the weekend.

While the Bloomsbury Futsal Womens 1st Team will take on Southampton Aztecs Women on Saturday, the Mens 1st Team square off against York Futsal Vikings on Sunday.

Before the festive break, Liam Francis’ side registered four wins and a loss in their five games. They are currently placed second in the points table, with 12 points, while their opponents have lost all of their six games so far.

Speaking ahead of their first home game, Womens team Head Coach said, “It’s great to be back after the winter break. I think everyone has enjoyed their time off but now the excitement returns as we get back to action in the league. It’s also our first opportunity to play at home as a women’s side and one that we are relishing and hopefully, we can put on a show.”

With their eyes firmly set on the playoffs spot, Bloomsbury Women are raring to go in the second half of the season.

“First half of the season was definitely a strong one for us,, and to look back at the improvement from our first year, it’s massive. I think the mindset is starting to set in that we are in a strong position for playoffs, and while there are a number of strong teams, we know we can beat anyone!”

Meanwhile, Bloomsbury Men are the only unbeaten team in the season so far. They have won four and played out a draw in their five outings. They will be up against York Futsal Vikings, who are seventh in the points table, with two wins and four losses in six matches so far.

Speaking ahead of their first game of 2023, 1st Team Manager Tapia Owens said, “It’s great to be back, we are refreshed and ready to go once again. The first half of the season is done well, we will begin the second half of the season at home, and it is important to get those wins. Our aim is to build on the momentum and seal the spot for playoffs.”

“You can’t take any opponent lightly, we have had some intense training sessions and we’re expecting a tough challenge from York. We will go all out to get those three points,” he concluded. Bloomsbury Futsal Womens 1st Team vs Southampton Aztecs Women will be played on Saturday at 1230 hrs GMT, while Bloomsbury Futsal Mens 1st Team vs York Futsal Vikings will be played at 1410 hrs GMT.
