BFA U11 Girls v. LFS U11// Coach Meg // 2-2
FAVOURITE MOMENT: When at half time, the girls took charge of their own team talk, and a few individuals spoke about things they needed to do better in the second half. They showed incredible resilience to come back and draw the game 2-2.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH: Olivia is our player of the match for working incredibly hard on the left wing, and as a striker, and getting her first well-deserved goal for Bloomsbury!
THIS WEEK’S LEARNING: We are going to be continuing to work on our compactness as a team, and staying patient out of possession, finding the right time to win the ball.
BFA U11 Girls v. HGS U11// Coach Meg // 3-1
FAVOURITE MOMENT: When the girls played out from the back successfully multiple time, staying calm on the ball and moving to receive despite good pressure from the opposition.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH: Piper- she was incredible in defence all game, reading when to go and intercept the ball, when to drive forward, when to cover and when to put pressure on an opposition player! An outstanding performance.
THIS WEEK’S LEARNING: We will continue to work on combination play and turn this into a super strength- there were some really nice linkups between players when attacking, and if we do this even more teams won’t come near us!
BFA U14 Girls (Bibs) v. BFA U14 (Non-Bibs) // Coach Dwight // 4-3
FAVOURITE MOMENT: Our Gold vs Black match was a mixed teams friendly; one side was stacked with defensive powerhouses, whilst the other was littered with attacking talent. The effort and quality on display made for an exciting watch, and despite a superb hat trick from Jet, the defensive team in bibs came out on top.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH: For this match I’ll give a player of the match for each team: Jet for the non-bibs for her impressive finishing display, and Syrah for the bibs for her incredible defensive efforts as well as fantastic dribbling up the pitch to create scoring opportunities.
THIS WEEK’S LEARNING: The attacking display from both sides was impressive in this seven-goal thriller, however this also highlighted that we can improve defensively, especially with regards to our pressing and covering, as well as communication to organise our defensive set up and roles.
BFA U14 Girls Black v. PSA // Coach Dwight // 3-4
FAVOURITE MOMENT: We showed terrific spirit in this game, with Janet and Lilia scoring in the first half after a dominating display. We were unfortunate to concede an own goal before HT, and didn’t let our heads drop when they equalised, with Janet scoring her 2nd and our 3rd of the day.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH: Janet was our player of the match, not only for her superb finishing, but her work rate to press the opposition defence and break up play in the midfield to start attacking opportunities was very impressive, and we felt she led by example on the day.
THIS WEEK’S LEARNING: Although we were on top for most of the game, we let ourselves down defensively too often, mainly due to lack of urgency or communication at the back. “When in doubt, get it out!” should be ringing in our ears, as two of the goals we conceded came from us not clearing the danger immediately.
BFA U14 Boys v. AFC Southgate // Coach Ignacio // 7-2
FAVOURITE MOMENT: Every goal that we scored was a result of all the hard work the players have been putting in. Special shoutout to Danny Nichols for working hard this week and scoring his first goal of the season!
PLAYER OF THE MATCH: Ozan Uyar for scoring 3 goals and providing an assist. Ozan is a natural leader and this is shown each day in training and in games.
THIS WEEK’S LEARNING: We can improve on scanning and positioning. The players need to do a better job recognizing the space they are in and the best way to do that is to look over their shoulders.
BFA U12 Black v. APB Wingate // Coach Milo // 3-2
FAVOURITE MOMENT: Undoubtedly Mark’s match-saving last minute slide tackle to deny an open goal. Man tracked back like the terminator to confirm the dub, with all his fellow teammates crowding him to celebrate his heroics.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH: Before the winner is announced, only right we pay homage to Harvey in close 2nd, who was phenomenal. But Mark, for your goal-saving tackle & left-foot rocket, congrats mate.
THIS WEEK’S LEARNING: Pressing organisation: wingers press their wide centre-backs, our wide centre-backs then press their wingers, CMs lock off the centre. I hope you’re reading this, lads.
BFA U12 Gold v. SFC Blue // Coach Milo // 3-0
FAVOURITE MOMENT: Santi’s goals at the end, courtesy of Christopher’s majestic & powerful run down the line to put it on a plate for him. Terrific, Arsenal-like performance, where we should have scored much more given our dominance; delighted with the two goals at the end to confirm the victory.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH: Christopher. Rocket of a first, majestic assist for the second. Match winning contribution you should take a lot of confidence from fella – more to come.
THIS WEEK’S LEARNING: Finishing off our chances & bravery to play through their press. Back yourselves, fellas.
