My Game, My Rules, My Wins

Bloomsbury Football Foundation have been proud to join the voices celebrating the Lionesses winning UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.

But, for the millions of young players inspired by the tournament in Switzerland, it’s easy to forget that England’s Champions are not the only ones to have won, both on-and-off the pitch.

Take Jess Fishlock, Wales’ all-time leading scorer. Jess won because, having spent her career battling to help her country even qualify for a major tournament, she scored Wales’ debut goal – the culmination of nearly two decades of dedication.

Or Ann-Katrin Berger, Germany’s goalkeeper. Ann-Katrin won because she recovered from thyroid cancer, twice, and yet still got back on pitch – her resilience and determination displayed in her superhuman performance against France.

So, despite England’s historic victory, Bloomsbury will continue to reinforce the message from our “My game, my rules, my wins” campaign: that all wins are worth celebrating.

When we reframe what winning means, we can show anyone inspired by the competition that there’s space for them to play football too, no matter their individual goal.

And what happens when more girls play football? We all win, because it produces happier, healthier and more confident individuals, and it produces stronger, better-connected communities.

That’s why Bloomsbury Football Foundation will continue to break down the barriers that stop girls from playing, this summer and beyond.
