Hungry To Win

6th Jul 2023

Featured Fixture
Bloomsbury girls U12 GSL South Tournament

The girls started the tournament slowly with a 1-1 draw in the first game. They didn’t let this stop them as they moved into their second game. The girls started this game very strongly with Janet scoring in the first minute, and they kept this momentum up and scored another 5 goals to finish the game 6-0 winners! The last group game the girls played was another strong performance from them scoring 3 and displaying a strong dominate performance. The girls then had a short break before playing in the final where they kept their incredible momentum up and Kitty opened up the scoring. Ilva grabbed a goal and Emily scored 2 to secure a 4-0 final win! The girls dominated all the way through the tournament and displayed some incredible performances that were complimented by other coaches. Another amazing tournament trophy for the u12 collection! Player of the tournament goes to Emily for incredible running all through the tournament and scoring some amazing goals including an incredible chip goal! The girls focused on wide play in their tracking tournaments that helped then prepare. We will continue to build on this success and experience!

Bloomsbury boys U8 Norseman Tournament

This was a brilliant day for football and smiles all around. The players desire and focus throughout the day impressed me and there was a constant sense of belief that the next game would be ours. After having so many chances of scoring we were put through to a semi-final where we scored our first goal of the tournament! This was celebrated massively by kids, parents and even the coaches! Unfortunately, we were knocked out from the semi-final through a penalty shootout. Once again our players showed Bloomsbury values by respecting our opponents through congratulating them on winning. Some brilliant pieces of skill from all players! All around a good last tournament for the Bloomsbury U8 Boys! The best moment was when Nabil scored a stunning penalty and seeing the biggest smile on his face when running back to the group! Player of the tournament was Liam. His effort and determination to continue to try and lift the team up when heads were down was outstanding to see! The energy going into training on Sunday and Monday was very good. They boys looked like they were ready to learn and improve. They will continue to learn from mistakes and look to make quicker decisions to build up the attack effectively. Hopefully the attitude for learning stays positive for the last couple weeks of the season!

Bloomsbury girls U10 GSL South Tournament

This tournament was the best performance yet from the U10s! The attitude from the start was superb and the girls were hungry to win and work hard for each other. Big congratulations to Neveah, Maisie and Aniera for scoring their first goals for Bloomsbury! The players all worked tirelessly for each other, some playing in different positions too. Captain Mila led the girls brilliantly and her organisation on pitch was great. Big shoutouts to Isla for yet again another great performance in goal, to Lyla for her non-stop running to shut down the ball, and to Bakita and Piper for their brilliant defending and also their work to get the ball forward. The best moment was the girls third game, which they won 3-0. It was a very convincing performance, we definitely dominated the game, and we coaches were happy to see some principles we had worked on in training coming out in the match. Bakita is the player of the tournament as she scored an excellent rocket of a free kick, and her determination is unbelievable! This week, we have been doing lots of small, sided games in training, and focusing on playing quickly, winning the ball high up to make it easier for us to score. This was definitely shown in the tournament as over half our goals came from winning the ball in the final third! We will continue to instil confidence in the girls and uphold our positive team environment through lots of fun football games and activities for the last few weeks of training!

Bloomsbury boys U11 Norseman Tournament

5 successful results in the group stage with 4 wins and a draw put us top of our group, with no goals conceded. This put us into contention for the cup knockout stages for 1st and 2nd placed teams. We ended up losing to the side that eventually won the tournament, cutting the day shorter than hoped after a really strong start.Tournaments have seemed to start slowing for us and we get better post-first match. To see us dominate straight from the start was very exciting to see! As a result, our first game where we controlled the tempo of the match was the highlight! Player of the tournament goes to Adam as he drove forward from a midfield 2 or 3 very well, winning his 1v1 battles and choosing when to play the final pass very well. Leading up to the tournament, a lot of the work done involved passing combinations in the midfield and final third. We seemed quite comfortable to not force passes or play too direct when it wasn’t on. In parts it mirrored aspects of our Thursday session at Fleet. In training, we will emphasise playing 1v1 and 2v1 overloads. The tournament this weekend had large amounts of space available for a smaller team size. Opportunities to beat players individually or in pairs and progress into open space was apparent in the tournament.

Bloomsbury girls U12 GSL West Tournament

The girls turned up ready to play and jumped straight into a warmup and listened to all instructions given to them excellently. This tournament was set to be different for players as the goals were wide and small compared to the girls normal goals and we only had one sub so we would require lots of running from the girls with high amounts of game time! The first game was a tough match of which the girls performed well and got a solid 0-0 draw. The girls then entered their next group game with high energy and played well but fell just short and got caught out a few times and lost the game 3-0. They picked themselves up and jumped into their 3rd group game and picked up another solid 0-0 draw. The last group game showed another great performance from the girls who continued to run and work hard but a few lapses in concentration allowed the other team to score 2 goals. But we attacked every game with positivity and fun and worked extremely hard! Although not the results the girls wanted, this was definitely a day to be proud of especially considering we had low numbers for this tournament a few weeks ago.The incredible desire from all players was great to see but a special shout out to Ella who was placed in goal in the last match as we needed someone to go in. Ella didn’t argue and went in goal and performed very well! Player of the tournament goes to Miya for an incredible debut for Bloomsbury. She ran consistently during the tournament and played in a range of positions. The girls played a tournament in training and worked on passing of which was seen to be successful in the tournament! We will continue to work on players tracking back and build all players confidence in goal.

Bloomsbury girls U12 GSL North Tournament

The girls started the tournament strong with Janet scoring within the first minute. The girls then continued this momentum throughout with jet scoring in the final seconds. In the next group game, the girls continued the incredible form they set up in the first game and scored 3 good goals to keep their winning streak up! The third group game was the girls biggest test against a team they have never faced before, and we played incredibly but narrowly lost 2-1. The last group game was arguably one of the best games the u12 played that day with some incredible teamwork leading to some good goals! After the group stages the girls were placed 3rd so progressed to a semi-final where they narrowly lost 1-0 to the team they lost to in the group stages, before narrowly losing again 1-0 in the 3rd/4th stage playoff. However it was a tournament to be proud of as the work ethic of all the girls to get up the pitch and attack but to also drop back and defend was incredible! The teamwork and passion from the whole team was amazing from start to finish. The incredible tracking back and last-minute tackle from Omiya in the final moments of the game was definitely a highlight. Player of the tournament goes to Janet for an amazing display of football throughout the tournament and scoring an incredible 5 goals! In training, the girls played a tournament and focused on key areas that would help them and took that into the tournament today!
