BUILDING ON EXPERIENCE

30th May 2024

BLOOMSBURY FOOTBALL Academy U9 boys borehamdwood Tournament

This past weekend, our team proudly represented Bloomsbury at the Borehamwood Tournament. In a weekend filled with intense competition and thrilling matches, we stood out as one of the only Bloomsbury teams to advance to the quarter finals.

Our journey through the tournament was marked by determination and skill, with each match showcasing our team’s hard work and dedication. As we progressed to the quarter finals, the excitement was palpable. However, the tension reached its peak during the challenging penalty shootout that preceded our match. This intense moment raised our adrenaline levels while the other team was warming up, potentially affecting our performance.

Despite this, the quarter final match was fiercely contested and could have gone either way. Our players demonstrated remarkable resilience and skill, but ultimately, we narrowly missed out on advancing further.

While the loss was a tough pill to swallow, there is some consolation in knowing that the team who defeated us went on to win the U9 tournament as a whole. This highlights the level of competition we faced and underscores our strong performance throughout the weekend.

Overall, our team’s effort and spirit at the Borehamwood Tournament were commendable, and we look forward to building on this experience in future competitions.

My favourite moment has to be when Ismail from kick off received the ball and showed his ball mastery skills by doing a la croqueta skill, followed by finishing into the top corner. My player of the tournament goes to Oli. His determination when outfield looking for chances and his unbelievable saves in goal is a big reason to why he deserves it. A special mention to Roka and Liam as they were close second to this.

This weeks training was focused on game based practice. We did practice penalties which came in handy for our shootout that we won! It’s half term next week so a good rest and individually getting ready for the few tournaments that we still have to play.

BLOOMSBURY FOOTBALL Academy U9 boys West Ham Festival

Our team recently competed at West Ham’s Grassroots Festival, a tournament filled with tough fixtures and high-level competition. Despite the challenging nature of the matches, we displayed resilience and determination throughout the event.

The day proved to be a tough one for us, as we were unfortunate to concede three goals in three different matches during the dying seconds. These last-minute goals were a harsh reminder of the fine margins in football, and despite our best efforts, we couldn’t secure the desired results in those games.

However, our perseverance paid off in the final match of the tournament. In a moment of brilliance, Liam, playing in his favoured right wing-back role, scored a beautiful goal, securing our first and only win of the event. This victory was a testament to the team’s hard work and spirit, providing a positive note to end on.

Overall, the festival was a valuable learning experience for all our players. Many of them caught the eye of onlookers with their amazing talents and skills, showcasing the potential within our squad. As we move forward, we’ll build on these experiences, aiming to come back stronger and more prepared for future challenges.

My favourite moment has to be when Roka Smashed the post with his weaker foot coming from a good move. Testament to the energy he gave throughout his time on the pitch. My player of the match goes two players. Paulo and Liam despite playing in multiple positions throughout the games, they gave their all throughout. Well done to the boys and keep it up!

This weeks training was game based practices relating to our matches. We did practice penalties for future tournaments to remove the anxiety of this. Next week is half term. So a bit of rest and individual work preparing us for the few tournaments we have left

STILL GOING STRONG!
