Fancy Footwork

30th Mar 2023

Featured Fixture
Bloomsbury girls U12B 13-0 Omonia Gold Tigers

Jet started off the scoring in the first minute and was a scoring machine with 6 goals! Tara scored 5 as well! Muzique scored an amazing solo goal, running through 4 players before firing it home! Kitty also bagged a goal to bring the tally to 13. We took this game as an opportunity for players to play in different positions. Esther played very well as a winger, even hitting the post! El played on the wing too and is settling in very well there. Ilva assisted one of Jet’s goals with some insane 360 turn and fancy footwork on the right before playing it across goal. An all-round excellent team performance! Player of the match went to Annabel for incredible attitude throughout and some excellent through balls. She always had no worries about going in goal when called upon quickly.

Bloomsbury boys U9 Gold vs FC Marylebone

The best moment was when Teo sprinted from the front to the back to save a goal from the opposition counterattack! Mishas goal from a long free kick was great to see and Pax’s amazing attitude and energy all over the game was amazing! Player of the match goes to Pax for his communication with the teammates. This week we have been working on passing the ball back in order to organise from the back and keep possession. As well as work on movement off the ball to create space away from the ball. The players will need to keep their focus before Easter half term so we can be back in a few weeks ready to learn new things!

Bloomsbury boys U9 Gold vs Sport London Benfica

Laurence was an example of leadership and brought focus to the team. Playing from the back with quality on the ball, communication and a lot of balls in the wings are leading us to clean sheets! Teo’s movement off the ball is improving a lot, creating space for the teammates to play further. Robert’s jump again from the Black team to stand his name as Gold player was great to see! He scored an amazing goal and showed a fantastic performance even starting on the bench! Tommy, who played all the first game on goal, came out to play in defence and scored 2 amazing goals! Kingsley earned player of the match for his brave attitude and for always fighting and pressing high, never quitting! We need to keep working on playing back when in danger and letting our teammates face the game to decide the next step. We will work a little more finishing too so the players can have a little extra confidence!

Bloomsbury boys U9 Black vs Bloomsbury boys U9 Foundation

One of the key moments was when Louay received the ball from Rocco in goal and switched the ball to Noah who took a brilliant touch and had a strike which unfortunately went wide but the lead up play to that was amazing! Another one is Gustaves free kick. He took it from the right-hand side and swung it in bottom corner. My favourite moment of the whole game was in the first half when BF U9 Foundation were attacking the goal and it slipped through Roccos hands but just before it went over the line, Vlad did an amazing slide tackle clearing it off the line.Player of the match is Gustave. All through the match he worked hard to not let players get passed him. He was always running down the line from defence and crossing the ball. At half time he mentioned he wanted to try winger. As soon as he did, he was making chances and even scored a brilliant free kick! We worked on movement off the ball, and everyone was quite static, however after half time there was a lot of passing and moving around with high intensity which impacted the game positively! Communication is one big thing we need to work on because a lot of the time throughout the game, players were stuck with no option however there was no communication in order to let that player know what they can do. We will be working on this!

Bloomsbury boys U10 Gold vs EFA Gold

It was extremely pleasing to see the focus and resilience after conceding. The players were unfazed and understood exactly how to respond as we went into halftime scoring before the final whistle, to take us to 2-1.Riku’s goal was a great freekick, bending around the wall and hitting the top right corner as he ran off to celebrate with his team! Deniro contributed fantastically well as part of the attacking three, as well as scoring two great goals. His effort in the press, willingness to combine with his teammates, and non-stop energy were brilliant to see. Player of the match goes to Alex for his resolute defence and ability to lead from the back. He always shared information with his teammates to help give them direction. He has also made great progress in receiving the ball in deep areas and progressing it into his attackers. We had a lot of focus on patience when in possession and recognising when to play back in order to create more space going forward. The team were comfortable in possession and always looked to protect. We will continue to demonstrate the value of patience, on and off the pitch!

Bloomsbury boys U12 Black 0-4 Benfica

A solid first half where we stayed resolute, despite ending the game with only 8 players. What the players showed, the commitment to each other, in the face of adversity was fantastic! All of which the players could control, they showed extremely well. Leonardo’s commitment and drive, constant willingness to push his team forward makes him player of the match. We were always looking to create opportunities and we were able to impose ourselves on the ball, but due to the lack of numbers and fatigue, it was inevitable. The effort of the players cannot be faulted!

Bloomsbury girls U12A 3-0 Omonia White Lions

It was a hard-fought contest between the two teams, but we certainly had the majority of possession in the first half. Many of our chances went wide or were saved by their very good keeper. Jet once again scored two and received players player of the match for excellent attacking play. Kaya scored too, well deserved after a great individual performance! O’Miya and Emily were dominant on the wing and even more so when they got back to defend. The opposition had less than 5 shots on target, a testament to our great defensive shape and tracking back. At one-point O’Miya swapped in for Eleanor and Eleanor was playing on the wing. What a fluid and brilliant team performance! Coaches player of the match was Remai for doing incredibly well in her first game for the U12A team, clearing the ball and passing very well. Amazing achievement, well done! We need to exploit the opposite side of the pitch when teams press too quickly so we will work on switching the play quicker.

Bloomsbury girls U12 2-0 LFS

We had control of the game and had excellent spells in possession in the first half. Abigail passed across goal to set up O’Miya for our first goal just before half time. There was some excellent link up play between Abigail and Jet and also Kitty and Tara (more in the second half). Defensively we were very solid despite players playing out of their usual roles. Emily was particularly impressive there and for that reason was given players player of the match. Eleanor was a consistent force in defence and received coaches player of the match. Salima and Muzique always made sure they were behind the ball to defend well. A favourite moment of mine was when Salima cleanly won the ball, did a lovely v turn behind her legs and sprinted down the wing to start an attack. We’ve been working on recycling the ball when we get in trouble. It happened a few times but maybe could have been more!

Bloomsbury boys U15 2-3 Colney Heath

Marc’s goal was amazing. The equaliser gave us the belief to come back and take control of the game. Unfortunately, it was not enough. Beckett’s goal was an outstanding shot from outside the box in the top corner. Nima adjusted as a right-wing even though it was not his role which was great to see. He was our more dangerous player, who made 3 amazing runs finishing with good crosses. Unfortunately, we did not take our chances. The build-up from the back did not work as we wanted it to, sometimes risking a lot when not well positioned. Instead of cutting in behind the defensive line, we are too wide on receiving the ball. We need to also work on switching play as we often opt for the wrong spaces with traffic when we could go with different solutions. In terms of play, possession needs to be improved in terms of speed and effectiveness. We need to be able to read the game better and make decisions based on that. In terms of mentality, when it comes to big games, we need to approach them with more concentration.

Bloomsbury boys U15 2-7 Camden Elite

Despite the result, Charlie kept fighting and prevented an even worst result, and he deserved to win ‘Player of the match’. In future fixtures, we must continue to encourage our teammates, and we will spend time focusing on on how to use zonal marking on our opposition. Moreover, we must the number of improve shots on target, as we are often first to the rebounds and can score more goals from inside the six-yard box. It was a tough game and we learn a lot from these experiences – The key is to bounce back as quickly as possibly after the Easter break.
