London, 12 December 2022: High-flying Bloomsbury Futsal Womens 1st Team beat London Helvecia Futsal Club Ladies 4-1 in an intense fixture to maintain their perfect win record in the FA national Futsal Series 2022/23 here at St George’s Park National Football Centre on Saturday.
Bloomsbury started the match on the frontfoot, making their intent to their opponents very clear. Paula Sanchez opened the scoring for Bloomsbury just five minutes into the game with a stunning strike from the left flank. They went on to extend their lead to 2-0 in the 11th minute when Tessa Leong found the back of the net with ease. Bloomsbury Womens Team played with good speed in their attack, putting Helvecia’s defence under pressure throughout the first period.
Desperately looking for a goal, Helvecia removed their goalkeeper to go all-out in the attack. However, an error in the 24th minute led them concede a goal, thus putting Bloomsbury in a commanding position. Bloomsbury ladies went on to rotate the ball with precision to find gaps and their efforts paid off as Hannah Kraakman added the fourth goal to the tally in the 34th minute. Helvecia did manage to slip one goal in, in the 38th minute through Arabel Vilas Serin, but that wasn’t enough as Bloomsbury took control of the proceedings to secure the 4-1 win.
Tessa Leong, who was bagged the player of the match award, expressed, “I wasn’t expecting it at all, I was already stoked with the team securing 3 points so I guess it was icing on the cake.”

Speaking about the team’s win over London rivals, Tessa added, “Absolutely buzzing to win the london derby. We played really well as a team and were on the front foot from the start. Helvecia are a good side and being able to take three points home is huge.”
Reflecting on the perfect win record Tessa highlighted that, ” it helps with the confidence”.
“It’s great to be at the top of the table, but at the same time we know there’s still a lot of work to do and there’s a long season ahead. We have another important match this weekend against Birmingham so we want to carry the momentum we have into the next game,” she concluded.
