FA National Futsal Series 2022/23 Preview: Bloomsbury Futsal Mens and Womens 1st Teams will look to end 2022 on a high

London, 16 December 2022: Bloomsbury Futsal Womens 1st Team and Bloomsbury Futsal Mens 1st Team will look to remain unbeaten and end 2022 on a high as they return to action in the FA National Futsal Series 2022/23 here at Hartpury College on Saturday.

While the Bloomsbury Futsal Womens 1st Team will take on the defending champions Birmingham WLV Women in their fifth game, the Mens 1st Team square off against Wessex Futsal Club 1st.

Liam Francis’ side are coming off a clinical 4-1 win over London Helvecia Futsal Club Ladies and are currently on the top of the points table. Birmingham WLV Women, on the other hand, are also unbeaten in the league so far, and are placed second in the points table with just two points behind Bloomsbury Womens.

Speaking ahead of the game, Womens team Head Coach said, “Coming off the back of last weekend I think the whole group are in great spirits. Helvecia haven’t lost a regular season match for many years and to be able to overcome them on BT Sport made it all the more special. We know it is a long season but the squad are showing what they can achieve this year.”

He further added, “We go into this game knowing its going to be another tough test, Birmingham are the current national champions and we expect another battle like with Helvecia. We’ve done our homework and hopefully we can execute the game plan and break for Christmas with the valuable 3 points.”

Meanwhile, Tapia Owens’ men will be back in action after two weeks. They are second in the table with three wins and a draw in four matches so far. Their opponents, Wessex, are yet to register a win in the season. They have lost all five of their games thus far.

Speaking ahead of the game, Owens stated, “It’ll be exciting to see if the players can put into action what we’ve looked at the last couple of weeks and go into the winter break with the momentum.”

He added, “We’ve prepared well for this weekends game and know the damage Wessex could do against us if we aren’t at our best. They have some great players and have been unfortunate to not have had the results yet which makes them dangerous to play.”

Bloomsbury Futsal Womens 1st Team vs Birmingham WLV Women will be played at 1300 hrs GMT, while Bloomsbury Futsal Mens 1st Team vs Wessex Futsal Club 1st will be played at 1700 hrs GMT.
