Bloomsbury Futsal Womens 1st Team will look to consolidate their lead at the top of the table when they take on Cheshire Futsal Club Ladies in their third match of the FA National Futsal Series at the St. George’s Park National Football Centre on Saturday at 14:50 GMT.
In the last game, Bloomsbury Futsal Womens Team registered a clinical 5-2 win over Bolton Futsal Club Womens to climb on the top of the points table. Merce Portabella bagged a brace, while Rosanna Frith-Salem, Tessa Leong and Paula Sanchez scored a goal each to register their second consecutive win of the season.
Reflecting on the team performance, Head Coach Liam Francis stated, “To come away with a good performance and 3 points against a side like Bolton is testament to the hard work being put in.”
He further stated that he his yet to see best from his team. “So far, this season we’ve seen two cracking results for the side. With the team being a fairly new collective group of people, understandably its going to take time to gel, so I don’t think we’ve seen the best of this group yet, however I have been impressed with how quickly we are looking like a top four side.”
Their opponents for the weekend, Cheshire, have lost two and won only one in the three matches so far.
Speaking about the match-up against Cheshire, Francis stated that he is expecting a challenging game against them.
“Cheshire are a totally different side to Bolton, with a different set of strengths so we’ve certainly done a lot of focus on how to break them down. I know Richie at Cheshire will bring a side that will push us for the full 40 minutes and we will be well set to hopefully put out another strong performance and make it 3 from 3 this weekend,” he concluded.
