Bloomsbury Mens and Womens 1st Teams earn big wins to consolidate lead at the top of FA National Futsal Series 2022/23 table

Both Bloomsbury Futsal Mens and Womens 1st Teams put on a stupendous show at St. George’s Park National Football Centre to consolidate their lead at the top of the points table after registering wins in the FA National Futsal Series on weekend.

While the Bloomsbury Futsal Womens Team registered a monumental 10-0 win over Cheshire Futsal Club Ladies, the Mens team thrashed London Helvecia Futsal Club First 7-0 in their respective matches of FA National Futsal Series.

The Womens team, led by Helena Scotland, dominated the start. They broke the deadlock in the 8th minute through Merce Portabella and went on to wreak havoc in the last five minutes of the first half, scoring as many as five goals. It was Hannah Kraakman, Tessa Leong and Dayna Manak, who scored goals in quick succession to take the lead to 6-0 at the end of the first half.

The second half started in a similar fashion, with Bloomsbury enjoying the possession and scoring timely goals. Paula Sanchez, Helena Scotland and Jazmin Whitehead-Shakes joined the party too and helped Bloomsbury clinch a massive 10-0 win to consolidate their lead at the top of points table.

Reflecting on the big win, Hannah stated that the team is “stoked to get the three points and a clean sheet”.

“It is always nice to get on the scoresheet but there was one spell in the first half we really clicked and got some great team goals so credit to the girls. We tried to keep putting our game plan into action all game so were stoked to get the 3 points and a clean sheet,” she expressed.

With three wins in three matches so far, Bloomsbury are on top with nine points. Hannah said that the team’s focus remains on working on the fundamentals and getting better every week.

“We have a long season ahead so any points we can get, especially early on in the season is awesome. But our focus needs to turn to our next opponents, and keep working on our fundamentals and how we want to play as a team, and keep pushing each other to get better every week,” she explained.

Mens Team thrash London Helvecia Futsal Club First 7-0

Bloomsbury Futsal Mens 1st Team thrashed London Helvecia Futsal Club First 7-0 in what was the Futsal ElClassico. Eduardo Amorim and skipper Richard Ward bagged a remarkable hat-trick each, while Jarrod Basger chipped in with a goal to secure a dominating win over fellow London club.

Just like Womens team, the Mens team dominated throughout the match. They opened the scoring in the 9th minute through Eddie and chipped in with timely goals. Jarrod Basger doubled the lead in the 11th minute and Eddie scored his second goal in the 13th minute. Minutes later, Skipper Ward got on the scoresheet to put his team in the driver’s seat at the end of the first half.

A similar story unfolded in the second half, with Ward scoring two more goals in the 26th and 29th minutes respectively. In the closing minutes of the stage Eddie also went on to complete his hat-trick to help the team consolidate the lead at the top with a comprehensive 7-0 win.

Reflecting on the performance, skipper Ward stated that it was an all-round show from the team. “I think the whole team did really well today. It was an all-round show, can’t leave anyone out.”

“But, at the same time, it was just one league game, we can’t get carried away. We have to stay focused on our objective which is to get to the good position and ultimately win the playoffs. Our focus now shifts to the next game and just looking forward to it,” he concluded.
