FREDA x BLOOMSBURY FOOTBALL: PERIOD WORKSHOPS WITH HANNAH MILEY MBE

9th Aug 2022

HOW HORMONES CAN BE A SUPERPOWER, ON AND OFF THE PITCH

Over the weekend of 15-16 October, triple Olympian and double Commonwealth champion swimmer Hannah Miley MBE will be delivering period workshops to all coaches, players and parents to break the stigma around periods and learn how hormones can be a superpower, on and off the pitch.

Following the Lionesses’ historic win in the UEFA Women’s Euros 2022, Bloomsbury Football are running period workshops later this month as part of their commitment to turn this moment into a legacy for girls’ and women’s football.

These workshops will launch Bloomsbury Football’s partnership with the sustainable period care company, Freda, which was announced on World Menstrual Hygiene Day on May 29, 2022.

The period workshops will be run by Hannah Miley MBE, an athlete who has a total of twenty-five medals to her name, and will focus on understanding periods, hormonal cycles and how training around these can help girls and women to reach their full potential on and off the pitch.

Bloomsbury Football exists to remove barriers to sporting participation. Too many girls are dropping out of sports when they hit puberty, and this project is one step in the right direction to tackling shame & stigma around periods and women’s health. I am so proud that Bloomsbury is leading the way in ensuring that football becomes a more welcoming and inclusive space for all – Charlie Hyman, Founder & CEO of Bloomsbury Football

Working with Bloomsbury Football is an incredible opportunity; I feel very proud and honoured to be part of this campaign. As a fellow female athlete, I have experienced first-hand the barriers we can face surrounding our periods. My aim is to help educate and start the conversation around menstruation, helping unlock untapped potential and empower all those involved – Hannah Miley MBE, Athlete

These workshops are part of a long-term partnership which will provide free Freda period kit bags to all players who need them, with access to unlimited product refills from coaches’ kit bags that will be on pitch in every Bloomsbury Football girls’ training session.

Press are invited to an exclusive introductory session on Saturday 15 October at 9am, where Hannah will be available for interviews, and to learn more about how Bloomsbury Football are changing the game for girls in London. The coaches workshop will then take place between 10am – 1pm that day. Free tickets available here.

Sunday 16 October will be a closed workshop for Bloomsbury players and parents – all are welcome, all you need to do is sign up for free tickets here.

Bloomsbury’s decision to supply period products to their players is a simple but critical way to address the real needs of female members. Freda is genuinely excited to be part of the pioneering effort by Bloomsbury to make young girls and women feel seen and valued – Afsaneh Parvizi- Wayne, Founder & CEO of Freda
