Goals Galore for the Girls

4th May 2023

Featured Fixture
Bloomsbury girls U12 10-0 Youngs FC U12B

We were a huge threat in attack from the first whistle to the last! We saw some incredible build up play as well as some individual brilliance. Kaya scored 5 great goals with one a top bins stunner which made her receive players player of the match along with Salima. Frankie won coaches player of the match for defending excellently and starting multiple attacks once tackling! Ilva coming back on after getting a knock was great to see as she dominated with central midfield perfectly. As a team we need to work on communicating more to each other. We are much better at encouraging each other but now we need to put detail in what we ask for on the pitch!

Bloomsbury girls U10 vs Lymore Gardens U10

There are plenty of key moments to choose from in this game! All the players worked tirelessly throughout the game, even when the opposition had 6 against our 5! However, there were three standout goals. First, Bakita’s volley. The ball came to her on the edge of the box, and she struck it mid-air to send it swerving over the goalkeepers head! Secondly, as if that goal wasn’t spectacular enough, Anne scored the second volley of the game from a corner kick where she struck the ball into the inner side netting, giving the opposition goalkeeper no chance! Poppy then channelled her inner Paul Gascoigne and flicked the ball over two players with her back to goal, turned, and effortlessly volleyed the ball past the goalkeeper. It was an amazing sight! Special mentions to Alex, Ettie and Lyla also for a great performance in midfield and defence, making some crucial passes and tackles to keep the all-important clean sheet! Throughout the whole of the game the girls were excellent, and there are only very few critiques in the way they played today. Player of the match has to go to Anne, for her excellent work as striker and also for volunteering to go in goal for a quarter. She bagged 5 goals today, and even a brilliant one with her left foot (that for some reason she claims she hasn’t got!!). She worked hard for her team and was great at being vocal too. This week in training, the girls worked on 1vs1s, especially with taking on goalkeepers, in addition to different shooting scenarios. It’s safe to say this was evident in the game today! We will continue to work on our positioning when we are in possession- trying to make the pitch as big as possible!

Bloomsbury girls U12A 8-0 Benfica U12A

Janet and Tara both scored hat tricks! Tara had a great game on the wing and Janet’s work rate did not go unnoticed. Tara received player’s player of the match and Muzique received coaches player of the match for excellent turns and strength on the ball! O’Miya also did not stop running and switched the ball very well! With not much threat on our goal, our defence had to stay focused. They did so really well and had some excellent positioning! Annabel didn’t stop in midfield either, making some crucial tackles and starting attacks. As a team we worked really well in front of goal, but we still need to communicate better to exploit all the space, especially the width.

Bloomsbury girls U12 5-1 AFC Schools

The game started with a bang as Jet scored a top right screamer 10 seconds into the game! We continued this momentum and even when the other team was showing signs of frustration we didn’t let it get to us and we kept on going. We have great confidence and composure as a team at the moment. Ghada scored on her debut at Market Road after Salima made an incredible run down the wing and passed across goal. Ella made some great forward runs and aways got back to defend! Salima received coaches player of the match and Ghada was players player! Lauryn also played very well in goal and then outfield on her debut. Kitty scored a great goal and then both Kitty and Ghada both shot at the same time to score a joint effort goal! Although it was a great goal, we need to work on our communication! Eleanor had a great game in defence, consistently covering very well. We have been working on supporting the striker when we play it into them, and this was evident as we always got forward as a team with the attacking play.
