0-3 // LEAD COACH: SHANICE
Fixture date: 21 October 2024
In a competitive friendly match on Monday, UCFB Women faced off against Bloomsbury U18 Girls, ultimately securing a 3-0 victory. Despite the scoreline, the match highlighted the resilience and potential of the Bloomsbury side.
The game began with Bloomsbury displaying impressive organization and determination, successfully keeping UCFB at bay for the first half-hour. Their defence, anchored by solid performances from the backline, frustrated UCFB’s attacks and created a tense atmosphere.
However, UCFB eventually broke the deadlock with a well-placed shot from inside the box, sending them into the lead. They quickly followed up with a second goal just before halftime, to make it 2-0.
Entering the second half with renewed energy, Bloomsbury stepped up their game, creating more scoring opportunities and putting pressure on UCFB’s defence. Their midfielders began to control possession better, generating chances that brought them close to narrowing the deficit.
Despite their efforts, UCFB’s defence held strong and managed to score a third goal, sealing the match at 3-0.
While the final score favoured UCFB, the Bloomsbury U18 Girls showed significant improvement and determination, leaving the pitch with their heads held high. They look forward to the rematch, eager to build on this experience and challenge UCFB once more.
1-4 // LEAD COACH: STEVEN H
Fixture date: 21 October 2024
Monday’s showcase friendly presented our young men’s team a wonderful opportunity to test their abilities against a well drilled university side!
We always knew it would be a challenging outing, without a recognised goalkeeper as well as bedding in some new faces for the first time.
We went into the break 4-0 down. Even so, the team maintained real belief and continued to try and impose our possession based approach which led to gaining better control.
We managed to limit the opposition’s attack in the second half, progressing into the final third better ourselves and this led to numerous chances being created.
Had our conversion been a bit better on the night, it could have been a different outcome.
Despite the result, there were many clear positives to take from the fixture as we head into a short two-week break in the Middlesex County League Division 1.
Onwards and upwards!
