MATCH REPORTS: STARTING STRONG, 2 – 9 OCTOBER

11th Oct 2024

2 – 9 OCTOBER

GIRLS ACADEMY

U11 GIRLS V. CAMDEN YOUTH (CAMDEN & ISLINGTON YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE) // 9 – 0 // LEAD COACH: MEGAN

Fixture date: 2 Oct 2024

MATCH OVERVIEW We’ve been working on recycling the ball in training, and the girls were using this throughout the match to maintain possession. Alex even called over to me and Chelsea during the game and said, ‘Look! We recycled the ball!’ which shows how engaged they are with their learning!

PLAYER OF THE MATCH All of them! The whole team was superb, everyone was performing at their best so it’s difficult to pick one player- shoutout to Maisie and Robyn helping us out from the U10s too!

THIS WEEK’S LEARNING To improve, we need to work on defending as a team and staying organised- we will be working on defensive transitioning in training sometime soon!

U11 GIRLS V. PSA (GSL) // 0 – 0 // LEAD COACH: CHELSEA

Fixture date: 6 Oct 2024

MATCH OVERVIEW The linkup play between Vivian and Aneira proved to be causing the opposition trouble. A great run from Vivian down the wing, finished with an excellent ball through to Aneira, led to a good shot and forced a good save from the PSA keeper.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH Alex showed a dominant performance all over the pitch, winning her individual battles both when attacking and defending, and being a leader throughout the match.

THIS WEEK’S LEARNING With plenty of possession and chances created, the main focus now is how we can finish the attack. If we can be more clinical and aim for corners when shooting, these chances will turn into more goals.

U12 GIRLS V. ROSE FC (CAMDEN & ISLINGTON YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE) // 5 – 0 // LEAD COACH: MEGAN

Fixture date: 4 Oct 2024

MATCH OVERVIEW When the girls finally got a well deserved goal in the second half and completely changed the momentum of the game- their hard work paying off!

PLAYER OF THE MATCH Ella Hurley- for keeping the motivation high and listening to instructions given at half-time, with her also scoring a couple of very good goals!

THIS WEEK’S LEARNING We will work on maintaining focus and discipline when we start games, so that we can play at our best from the start.

U12 GIRLS V. LYMORE (GSL) // 1 – 2 // LEAD COACH: CHELSEA

Fixture date: 6 Oct 2024

MATCH OVERVIEW With an excellent recycle of possession and build up play, Mila found herself in a good position to play the ball through to Noah. Noah then showed excellent composure to finish and score a goal that was well deserved after a dominant second half team display.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH Mila caused the opposition defence problems throughout the game by applying pressure, regaining possession and then playing some excellent forward passes, resulting in an assist for Noah.

THIS WEEK’S LEARNING The girls created many chances and attempts on goal, due to a well executed high press. Now it’s looking at how we can remain composed in front of goal and be patient under pressure, shooting in corners where possible.

U13 GIRLS GOLD V. HGS (GSL) // 2- 3 // LEAD COACH: BETHANY

Fixture date: 6 Oct 2024

MATCH OVERVIEW Salima’s direct run on the wing that she finished off with a shot into the bottom corner for Bloomsbury’s first goal.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH Salima for her positive attitude and encouragement on and off the ball that allowed her to score a goal and creat numerous other opportunities for the team.

THIS WEEK’S LEARNING We need to be quicker with our decisions on the ball and must meet the ball when it’s played to us.

U14 GIRLS GOLD V. BARNET PANTHERS (GSL) // 1 – 0 // LEAD COACH: CHELSEA

Fixture date: 6 Oct 2024

MATCH OVERVIEW Jet played a great ball through to Alexia who then used excellent skill to dribble past three defenders and drive to the outside of the box. Alexia then shot and scored an incredible goal into the top left corner from a tight angle and gave us a well deserved lead!

PLAYER OF THE MATCH Alexia performed really well, causing the opposition lots of problems with her passing and forward movement, resulting in an incredible goal.

THIS WEEK’S LEARNING We showed a dominant display in possession with great movement and support play. However, out of possession, the girls can regain more possession in the future by being in front of the opponent and making sure they’re first to the ball, particularly from goal kicks and throw ins.

BOYS ACADEMY

U13 BOYS GOLD V. TITANS (WFL) // 3 – 6 // COACHES: BEN F & JOSH L.

Fixture date: 6 Oct 2024

MATCH OVERVIEW Zac’s goal was absolutely delightful – a wonderful bit of hold-up play and combination before being fed through and demonstrating a really composed and mature finish low to the keeper’s left – superb!

PLAYER OF THE MATCH Yili was our POTM this week – he was everywhere in that midfield, always looking to get on the ball and trying to play positively throughout.

THIS WEEK’S LEARNING Our weight of pass/speed of play were areas that we needed to improve. By doing the basics excellently, we raise our baseline standards and the whole performance lifts, as it did when we got our goals! Do your job to the best of your ability, so that others can do their job to the best of theirs!

U13 BOYS BLACK V. ALEXANDRA PARK (WFL) // 3 – 0 // COACHES: BEN F & JOSH L.

Fixture date: 6 Oct 2024

MATCH OVERVIEW It was an absolute delight to see the lads begin to play together, as a team, for the first time properly this season. It’s been a difficult start for this group and so to see everyone settle into their rhythm as individuals, and as a group, and put in a very controlled performance was brilliant!

PLAYER OF THE MATCH Arthur Wigram was POTM for this game. His composure on the ball to keep possession and play forward in some high-pressure situations was excellent; he balanced excellent technique throughout with an exemplary attitude and intensity off-the-ball!

THIS WEEK’S LEARNING Tough to suggest many improvements on this performance but I would encourage the players to consider how their movements and positioning in possession affects our ability to defend should we lose the ball – consider how we can be best placed to react and support behind the ball in transition.

U13 BOYS V. THE HILL (CAMDEN & ISLINGTON YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE) // 3 – 2 // COACHES: BEN F & JOSH L.

Fixture date: 4 Oct 2024

MATCH OVERVIEW It was an absolute joy to see the players celebrate together when the winning goal went in, all of them running together and celebrating with Malachi. The smiles and positivity after the match was a joy to see after a difficult start to the season.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH Zain Zoubir takes the POTM award for this game. His energy, intensity, and positivity on and off the ball drove the team forward in the second half and he was instrumental in everything that we did well!

THIS WEEK’S LEARNING This game showed what we can do when we maintain a positive attitude through adversity. At half-time, it was clear that heads had dropped but a simple change in mindset allowed the lads to demonstrate excellent self-belief to turn the game around and get the win!

U14 BOYS DEV V. NORSEMEN YOUTH BLUES (WFL) // 0-2 // LEAD COACH: IGNACIO

Fixture date: 6 Oct 2024

MATCH OVERVIEW We managed to pass the ball 1-2 touches through the thirds, starting from a goal kick and finishing in front of the opponent’s penalty area. We are getting much better a moving the ball quickly and finding the open player.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH Noah Demetriou is the player of the match for his composure on the ball, ability to find the open man, and overall performance as an attacking mid.

THIS WEEK’S LEARNING We can improve on generating more chances. In 70+ minutes of play we shot the ball 5 or 6 times, indicating we are not creating as many scoring chances as we can.

U15 BOYS GOLD V. NORTHWOOD WHITE (WFL) // 7 – 2 // LEAD COACH: BIRAJ

Fixture date: 6 Oct 2024

MATCH OVERVIEW The first goal, a great switch from Yacine Gharouz found Taylor Peart onn the right side, a great first touch gets him past the defender, and a great cross into Rubens Baron who scores with a great first time !

PLAYER OF THE MATCH Gavin Donkor His last game for the Ball and Crown, a huge impact he’s had on the team, the team will miss him dearly!

THIS WEEK’S LEARNING Starting strong Often we’re at our best in the second half but we’ve been working hard to to start games with better quality and high intensity

U15 BOYS GOLD V. LFS (CAMDEN & ISLINGTON YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE) // 5 – 1 // COACHES: BIRAJ & JAMES

Fixture date: 4 Oct 2024

MATCH OVERVIEW The start, in the first minute of the game, we looked to keep possession, progress the ball and be clinical. 2 shots in the first minute and a goal after 5!

PLAYER OF THE MATCH Gavin Donkor – solid at the back and a threat upfront! His last CIYFL match for us and brought us home our first league win!

THIS WEEK’S LEARNING Consistency! Carry this quality to every session and match!

WE GO AGAIN NEXT WEEK!
