MATCH REPORTS – WEATHERING THE STORM 19 FEBRUARY- 26 FEBRUARY

28th Feb 2025

19 FEBRUARY- 26 FEBRUARY

GIRLS ACADEMY

BFA U14 GIRLS GOLD // COACH DWIGHT // 1 – 5

FAVOURITE MOMENT: Regardless of the result I was thoroughly pleased with performance from all the girls, including the three U13’s who featured and didn’t look out of place. We battled hard defensively and had some brilliants passages of play in attack, which on another day could’ve led to some fantastic goals.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH: Milena was the coaches POTM for her incredible work rate throughout the game in both attack and defence playing in centre midfield, not her usual position for us, whilst Muzique was chosen as POTM by the opposition for her impressive performance on both flanks.

THIS WEEK’S LEARNING: It’s important we stay composed in the final third. We must trust our ability and use our creativity to get into the box and create clear cut chances to score. This involves movement to create space and scanning on and off the ball, and implementing the core moves we’ve worked on in training.

BOYS ACADEMY

BFA U12 GOLD // COACH MILO // 1 – 3

FAVOURITE MOMENT: Second half reaction was really pleasing. As soon as we figured out their press, we utterly dominated & were able to build some momentum—real shame we were unable to get the goal we deserved.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH: Flávio. Some of the touches to beat their press in the 2nd half were phenomenal. Composure & confidence at the back—chef’s kiss. Can still be more aggressive as a wide CB, but was a really silky performance.

THIS WEEK’S LEARNING: Figuring out their shape earlier (my responsibility as well as the players’), but the issues weren’t technical/tactical, but psychological. We started poorly, so the 1st challenge was to get the energy up, then getting us to actually get the ball down & play. Also central dominance from CMs.

BFA U15 GOLD  // COACH BIRAJ AND JAMES // 8 – 3

FAVOURITE MOMENT: We had a tough first 5/10 minutes where the opposition were all over us, playing direct and causing a bunch of turnovers. However after weathering this storm, we grew positively and took the game for ourselves.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH: Ignacio Carrasquero. In his first game, he looked like he has been at the club for years! Confident and composed, he was excellent through and deserved his first two goals!

THIS WEEK’S LEARNING: Getting off to a strong start, a tough 5 mins at the start is something we can work to improving and changing by focusing the technical requirements it takes to get us on the ball to keep possession well

KEEP KICKING BLOOMS!
