SafeGuarding at Bloomsbury

At Bloomsbury Football, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. All staff members, regardless of their role, understand their responsibility in keeping children safe.

We believe it is essential to take a proactive, transparent, and practical approach to safeguarding. We consistently review our processes, assessing new risks and exploring ways of ensuring the standards we set out in our policies are carried out in practice, all incidents and potential concerns are reported, and children and adults at risk’s wellbeing is held in the utmost importance.

In order to effectively fulfil our responsibility to safeguard our members, it is essential that those working directly with children are well versed in spotting safeguarding concerns, managing urgent situations, and reporting concerns. To ensure this, all staff members involved in our programmes receive an in-person safeguarding onboarding session, achieve a minimum FA level 1 safeguarding children certificate, attend six annual safeguarding-specific CPDs, have an in-date enhanced DBS check, and are recruited in line with Safer Recruitment standards.

As part of our efforts to consistently innovate our safeguarding processes, we have worked with our digital department to ensure staff safeguarding literacy and effective reporting. Examples of this innovation include a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) hotline enabling support from 8 am to 10 pm each day, a safeguarding AI chatbot, data management through CPOMS, and digital registers which include all necessary medical/allergy/pick-up/contact information for children.
