If you’ve been to King’s Cross since September 2023, you may have noticed something different… Bloomsbury Football have launched the Game Changers exhibition, taking over the site between the station and the canal!
The players in this exhibition are aged between ten to sixteen, and there is one thing that they have in common – football is changing their lives for the better.
At Bloomsbury Football, our fastest growing programme is dedicated to Changing the Game for Girls. We are proud to engage 1,500 girls per week through our range of sessions. We are tackling the barriers that prevent girls from getting on the pitch – from providing free period products to getting on the pitch at Wembley. Our goal is to ensure that all girls feel confident enough to play and have access to the beautiful game.
We created Game Changers following the Lionesses’ historic win in the UEFA Women’s Euros 2022 and a record-breaking FIFA Women’s World Cup. There has been a focus on the legacy of these tournaments, and it is brilliant to see more funding dedicated to and more media attention on the women’s game. However, girls around London face the reality that opportunities and access to the sport are still limited.
With Game Changers, Bloomsbury Football showcases how removing barriers to football allows girls to enjoy the beautiful game – building their confidence and learning new skills. The message is loud and clear: girls belong on the pitch, and everyone is welcome.
